In a recent study over at the Shinichi Kuriyama the students spent countless hours studying the association between green tea consumption and death due to all causes. The study included over 40,000 adults who ranged between the ages of 40 to 79. The study compared people who drank green tea and those who didn’t. Those who drank the green tea (about 4-5 cups per day) had a significantly lower risk of death from all causes especially risk of death from Cardiovascular Disease (CVD). The women in this case study reaped the benefits of the protection from CVD much better than the men for reasons unknown.

Unfortunately this study didn’t fund and  cancer preventing nutrients within the green tea however other recent case studies across North America have found strong evidence. This case study was particularly effective because it was conducted in Japan where the number one choice of beverage nation wide is Green tea. In other case studies normally have other factors confounded with the green tea which reduces the effectiveness of the study but in this special case the majority of the Japanese population drink Green tea on a regular basis so this study didn’t have any confounding effects to mess up the study.

Rather than starting your day by drinking a nice caffeine-filled cup of coffee, try a healthier approach and drink a nice cup of Green tea. Not only will the Green tea protect you from many naturally occurring disease but the green tea is healthier than water, and is also has a much lower caffeine content. Green tea is the right way to go!
